Checkout Funnel Length Experiment
SocketAnalytics helped an online magazine company test out the length of the subscription funnel. The client felt that the checkout funnel was acting as a barrier for visitors to purchase a subscription. SocketAnalytics Consulting determined that a 3-step funnel was the most effective. A 5-step funnel was the original and 1, 2, and 3-step funnels were tested. The ideal layout clearly presented the required form fields and helped provided additional copy to alleviate customers concerns around security and the return policy.
Paywall Experiment
SocketAnalytics Consulting helped the same online magazine company increase their paywall clickthru by 20% and subscription conversions by 5%. SocketAnalytics Consulting recommended the client deploy a survey and gather insight into why customers enjoyed coming to the clients website. Using data that the client had obtained through these surveys SocketConsult recommended new messaging and imagery to test on the pay wall that centered around various value propositions that customers had communicated.
Subscription Pricing
SocketAnalytics Consulting helped another online media company experiment with subscription pricing. SocketConsult recommended to throttle the experiment traffic to 10% of the total traffic so as to minimize exposure to the various price points. After performing a revenue analysis it was determined that the magazine company could charge an extra $3 for a subscription while only suffering a decrease in conversions by 2%. After determining that the increase in subscription priicing more than covered the decrease in subscriptions the company decided to roll out the new pricing to 100% of their traffic.
